Monetizing My Music
It was during the fall of 2007 that Berklee professor Marty Dennehy planted the seed in my mind to create my own music publishing company. In his taxation class he outlined step-by-step instructions on how to set up our own business. Immediately after class I went downtown to register Sauce Entertainment with the City of Boston and the rest is becoming history.
As time progressed I created new music, registered copyrights, and designed a website but had no means of distributing my music to clients. However after doing an extensive online search for music licensing services, I found LicenseQuote.com. From that point forward the idea of running my own music publishing business became an apparent reality. Just what exactly is License Quote?
“LicenseQuote.com is a music licensing e-commerce solution for music publishers, labels, artists or bands to license their songs and recordings directly from their own web sites while keeping 100% of the sales revenues. The LQ Pro service provides a powerful array of licensing management tools to help publishers customize their music catalogs, pricing and online licensing stores”
I believe License Quote could be extremely valuable to all Berklee students creating original music, regardless of genre. It is easy to set up, fully customizable, and best of all it empowers the students of today to become the independent music publishers and record labels of tomorrow. I am working closely with the founders of License Quote to ensure that Berklee students and musicians everywhere get the opportunity to monetize their music and put it directly in the hands of the ones who need it most.
